crossmodal symbolism in epiphany scenes

 The known dragonfly imagery in epiphany scenes on Minoan rings seems too odd a choice. From my own experience though both visual and auditory effects signify a situation when interaction is possible. Tinnitus is a analogue of entoptical imagery, and can actually evolve from high pitched hum (btw described as associated with a Eusebius baetyl in Baetylia work (Moore, 1903)) via a short sweep to lower frequency onto to a voice-like stream. The tinnitus is then a kind of a precursor to epiphany and since it is alike the hum of an insect, can be depicted visually via inclusion of this symbolic source in the scene
